IMPORTANT NOTE
The fees displayed are the result of the PayPal US rate + the Angelleye commission of only 0.1%.
At Angell EYE, we believe in honesty, fairness, and transparency, especially when it comes to our pricing. We understand that the nuances of payment processing fees can be confusing, so let us break it down for you.
When you use our plugin to process payments, you'll continue paying whatever rate you've negotiated with PayPal, whether that's for PayPal Wallet transactions or for credit card processing.
What we do add is a small commission of 0.1% per transaction. This is our fee for the added value and capabilities our plugins provide.
To make this more clear, if your rate with PayPal is 3.49% for wallet transactions or 2.59% for credit card transactions, then with our plugin, you would pay an all-inclusive rate of 3.59% or 2.69% respectively.
However, it's important to note that your rates with PayPal may vary based on your own agreements. So, the key takeaway here is this: you will always pay your established PayPal rate plus our flat 0.1% commission.
This approach keeps your fees typically lower than with our competitors, and more importantly, keeps pricing simple and transparent.

I have enjoyed this plugin for many years but am very confused by all this. if you are transparent why is this information not on the front end of the upgrade option – especially the fact that you are now charging a transaction fee. I do not understand how this works with my existing Paypal account. Also when I click to upgrade it asks about a test account and will not accept my regular Paypal login. If this is not seamless and does not use my existing credentials I am leaving for another plugin.
Hi William,
The total fee info is presented on the front end of the upgrade option. The PayPal Partner model is changing a bit, and they’ve actually reduced the overall fee on their end, so that even with our fee being added you are still getting a lower rate than you were on the Classic gateways. Again, that comparison is shown up front where it says “total fee”. Then you can click to learn more, which it seems you’ve done, and that’s where it provides more detail on how that total fee is calculated. I’m sorry if you feel that misleading, but again, we wanted to make sure it was understood that even with our fee you will be getting a cheaper rate because of the reduced fee for direct credit card processing.
As for the the update, it should indeed be seamless. Going through that update / migration wizard would move everything for you after logging in. It’s odd that it seems to be defaulting to sandbox mode for you. In this case you can go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Payments -> PayPal Commerce – Built by Angelleye. Once in the settings for that gateway, you’ll see the sandbox mode option near the top. Make sure it’s not checked, and then click the Setup button there to go back to the sign-up / connect screen. This should do it in live mode, and then your live account credentials will work and it will all be very quick and easy.
I have also provided a link within that migration wizard to schedule a meeting with me if you would like to have me walk you through it. I can answer any questions or concerns you have on that meeting, and help you ensure everything goes smoothly.
If you have more questions please use that link in the wizard to schedule a time, or you can always submit a ticket at https://angelleye.com/support/ for more direct help as well.
Hope that helps!
Drew
Ok update was entirely not seamless but figured it out. In case others have the same issue – It had nothing to do with the sandbox enabled disabled. I had to go into the PayPal Commerce – Built by Angelleye payment option and check the enable PayPal Commerce for it to take my PayPal login credentials on the upgrade.
Also just submitted a ticket on an Apple Pay bug.
Hi William,
Thanks for the follow-up. I’m sorry that wasn’t as smooth as it should have been. We did release an update over the night that fixes the issue where it was running in sandbox mode, so that could be why you didn’t run into that again.
In any case, I’m glad you got it worked out.
As for Apple Pay, PayPal has verified that there is an issue on their end that only seems to happen when one specific IP address is hit for the API request. We are waiting on their feedback that it’s fixed on their end. Should have that soon.
Sorry again for the troubles, but I’m glad you got it done. Please do submit tickets at the help desk if you have any other questions or concerns and we’ll get you taken care of. Thanks!
Also curious what differentiates your plugin from the free one offered by woo? https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-paypal-payments/
First, I think if you install them and compare them you will find we have a lot more features and functionality in general. Second, you’ll find that we have fewer bugs/issues, and if you do run into a problem, our customer support is typically considered the thing that really sets us apart. Payments are important. If something isn’t working right, you can’t wait around for days, weeks, even months for an answer from the people providing the software. We typically respond to issues within just a few hours at most, and we can help get things figured out pretty quickly. If you have feature requests we can generally turn those around much more quickly, too. I would suggest that you check the reviews in our plugin and compare to what you see with other options.
On top of all of that, we’re going to updating our licensing for our paid plugins soon so that everything is based on this foundation of our main PayPal for WooCommerce plugin. By using it you’ll get access to all of our plugins like PayPal Multi-Account, Offers, Shipment Tracking, IPN/Webhooks, Button Manager, Invoicing, and anything else we do going forward.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about that.
Thanks!
Drew
I cannot see how you propose a comment like this as I checked myself: “The PayPal Partner model is changing a bit, and they’ve actually reduced the overall fee on their end, so that even with our fee being added you are still getting a lower rate than you were on the Classic gateways”
As to my analyzation there is the same fee by PayPal but now plus your partners fee per every transaction. Now I additional cost annually of roughly 600-700 € because of that. I am dissapointed!
PayPal has made a lot of changes with their fee structure over the years. The actual rates are different for different regions, but I’ll explain with the US region fees.
In the US the PayPal fee used to be 2.9% for everything regardless of whether “PayPal Checkout” was used or “credit/debit card” was used. Now they have increased their fee for PayPal Checkout, Venmo, and Pay Later to 3.49%, but they decreased their fee for direct credit/debit cards to 2.59%.
The majority of people still use credit/debit cards when given the option, so sellers get that lower fee most of the time. The overall blended rate ends up being cheaper than it was when everything was charged at 2.9% even with our partner fee included.
So while you see this partner fee as an “additional fee”, which it technically is, you should still see that you’re saving money overall when compared to having everything run at 2.9% like it did before.
Alternatively, PayPal now offers “Interchange Plus” pricing models which could potentially save you even more – but it could also cost you more. This depends on the specific types of cards you are receiving. For example, if you know that most of your buyers are using personal, Visa debit cards, then IC+ would be good for you because those are charged very low rates. However, if you take a payment from somebody that uses a company credit card or a card with rewards or miles attached to it, these are charged at much higher rates and end up costing you a lot more than it would if you stuck with the flat rate pricing model.
There are lots of options with all of this, and with all of these changes they are also introducing lots of new features and functionality. This includes things like Vaulting, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Real-Time Shipment Tracking, Real-Time Automated Updates of Vaulted credit cards, Fastlane, Fraud Filters, Analytics, and a lot more. We work hard to ensure all of these features and functionality are working in a stable fashion so you don’t have to worry about your checkout system.
We also provide top-notch support through our help desk and other channels to help you if you ever have questions or concerns related to payments or anything else on your site even if it’s unrelated to our plugin.
Also, by using our plugin with PPCP you get access to all of our paid plugins without having to purchase licenses. This includes our Multi-Account plugin, Offers, Shipment Tracking, and more.
We believe the value we provide is well worth the small partner fee that gets applied, and the vast majority of our users agree. The peace of mind that comes with using our plugin vs. the other options (which tend to have lots of bugs) is enough for most to be perfectly happy with our model.
I’m sorry to hear you are disappointed, but I hope this clarifies a bit for you and may make you feel a little better. Please do let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I will be happy to address them.
Thanks!
Drew
How to hide angelleye-notice?
Welcome to Angell EYE Updater
Important PayPal Update Required
I don’t want upgrade plugin to Complete Payments.
Hi,
The reason that notice is not dismissible is because it’s extremely important to get you upgraded to Complete Payments. PayPal is going to be killing the Classic stuff, and you’ll end up in a bad spot if that happens before you have switched. May I ask what is your hesitation on upgrading? It comes with all the new stuff like Google Pay, Apple Pay, Fastlane, etc. On top of that you’ll save money on fees because CC processing and Google/Apple Pay are charged at lower rates. There are lots of benefits to switching and really no downsides.
I’m happy to help you through it if you want to use this link to schedule a meeting with me.
Please let me know your thoughts.
